Life Alters

A poem

Photo by Bob Osias on Unsplash

We have both changed, forgiven, held each other,
life changes with time passing.
We grow together, forgiving our faulty selves

Love is accepting of change, love does not change
life changes, and we bind ourselves closer,
love alters not when it finds alteration

We grow closer with less words, more touching
of hands in the darkness of night,

strength is lent through that touch

Life changes, we love each other still, twining
fingers together, soul to soul,
together we are stronger in changes of life

I've read poetry since I was nine and have written creatively since I was fourteen (probably long before that). After writing book reviews and social comment, I decided I wanted to write poetry. I have no formal training, but I surround myself with poets and their writing. I am honing my craft.
I have two published collections which I don't feel good about, but have been published by madswirl.com and other publications. I live on the south coast of England with my daughter. I am seriously ill.
